Why steel?

Steel is a light and strong material with physical properties that match the demands for a modern and safe building. The steel is non combustible, do not get affected by rot or mold and can be recycled in an already built up worldwide recycling system. From a technical point of view – steel studs are the preferred choice in sound reducing walls.

The studs and runners from Lindab are easy to mount, there is no need for a lot of special tools and the connection between stud and runner is a quick fix system with no tools or fasteners needed. Professionals use steel studs for the technical properties and the erection speed – private persons also enjoy all the positive effects of using steel studs.

What do I need?

- First of all measure the place where you are going to have the wall. Measure the length, height and number of eventual openings.

- The main products are the studs and the runners, which makes the main frame for the board material selected. There are also different universal products that can be used for reinforcing the wall.

- The most common board materials are gypsum boards – the boards made of gypsum have good fire resistance and sound reducing properties, eventual insulation also increases the performance of a wall. These are commodity products where you can buy Lindab products.

Typical walls

The steel frame is one part of the wall, the board and insulation are the other products to create the wall. To make it really easy you could say that by adding boards and insulation the properties for sound and fire increases. Below a couple of schematic wall types and its properties.
