Just outside Karlshamn in southern Sweden, in an area of stunning natural beauty, lies Tegelbruksviken bay, with the blue salt water of Sandviken fjord just a short way off. Here PM Hus & Bygg, in association with municipal housing company Karlshamnsbostäder, has built 13 detached houses which are now nearing completion. All the houses have the same layout and exterior, but there is a pleasant variation as the property owners have chosen slightly different options for the garages, outbuildings and outdoor spaces.
This is truly a successful project

“This is truly a successful project,” says Pär Mörnhed, Managing Director of PM Hus & Bygg. “When we announced an information evening about the project in 2013, when everything was only on paper, we had 33 interested buyers. We actually had to draw lots to choose buyers for the houses, something we’ve never experienced before or since.”
Danish architects Vandkunsten designed the first 10 houses in the row nearest the sea. The houses are quite restrained architecturally: they are long with the same muted black shade on the facades and roofs. The three slightly larger houses in the back row were designed by RAA, Rudnicki Agergaard, another firm of Danish architects, and follow Vandkunsten’s guidelines.
Lindab has delivered the entire roofing panel solution and the complete exhaust air systems, the latter through Lindab’s new Project Support function.
Project planning, drawings and material delivery
“This is one of the first projects where Lindab’s new Project Support Ventilation function has been fully utilised, i.e. also in the planning stage,” says Morten von Sydow, head of Project Support. This means that Lindab helps the ventilation installer, in this case VBBA of Karlshamn, with project planning, drawings and a complete material list, based on the architects’ documents.
“Lindab has helped with project planning and drawings, as well as delivery of materials, and this has considerably simplified our entire process,” says Joakim Eriksson, project manager at VBBA. “We’ve had a single supplier contact throughout and have received ongoing support from Gert Berg and Morten von Sydow, which has definitely simplified our construction and made the ordering process easier. This is the first time we’ve used this service, but it certainly won’t be the last.”
All the houses are equipped with an exhaust air heat pump and the Lindab Safe duct system with KVG exhaust air valves.
Complete roof solution in matt black
“We’ve been busy since winter 2014 when the first stage of the houses started,” says Göran Persson, Managing Director of Mörrums Byggnadsplåt, the company that fitted the standing seam roofing, roof drainage and roof safety on all the houses. Lindab Ronneby has delivered around 1,800 m2 of PXHBPM flat sheeting in all, as well as 50 metres of Rainline guttering with fittings for each house, along with complete roof safety systems. Both the sheeting and the roof drainage and safety are in matt black, all in line with the architects’ requirements.
“We’ve been using Lindab as our main supplier of sheeting for more than 20 years – clear evidence of our good collaboration over the years, they have always supplied the products and service we’ve requested. This was a major, important contract for us, but otherwise the sheet fitting has been relatively straightforward,” Göran Persson explains. “Having said that the whole surroundings, with the sea, the lovely big beech trees and the beautiful black houses, did make for a very pleasant working environment.”
