Lindab Profile AB, in the final for the Swedish Lean Prize 2013

Everyone who has gutters and downpipes on their house knows that you need to clean them out from time to time to avoid blocking the water flow. The same goes for the factory where those gutters and downpipes are made. Lindab Profile in Förslöv, Sweden was one of the first companies to work according to “Lean” nearly twenty years ago, and since then there have been systematic efforts to improve the flows in all operations throughout the plant.

This work has generated results. Over the past 7-8 years the efficiency key performance indicator, OEE, has increased from 40 to 80 percent. The storage period for the ready-stock has decreased by between 15 and 20 percent and the sick-leaves have been reduced from 6.1 to 2.9 percent.

“The model going forward is to increase demands on ourselves regarding projects, leadership and processes”, says Lindab Profile MD, Christian Svensson. ”Or to keep cleaning out, time and time again, as with down-pipes.”
