Prestigious delivery to twin towers
Duct system for Ciftci Towers, Istanbul
Lindab is supplying the complete duct system for the 45-storey Ciftci Towers in Istanbul, Turkey. Tightness class D, a very strong brand and the capacity to meet this extensive delivery are some of the reasons why Lindab was chosen for the project.
With views of the Straits of Bosporus and a location next to the financial district in the European part of Istanbul, two high-rise towers are now taking shape. The skyscrapers in question are Ciftci Towers, and on completion they will each rise 45 storeys into the sky. The towers were designed by multiple RIBA Award-winning architects John McAslan & Partners
, and will offer exclusive accommodation with unparalleled views of the city, and a level of quality and comfort on par with the towers themselves.
The towers essentially comprise 60,000 m2 of apartments, 10,000 m2 of office space as well as 60,000 m2 of retail area. "Naturally we are delighted to be chosen as a supplier for one of Istanbul’s prime prestigious projects," says Levent Özcan, the country manager for Lindab in Turkey. International consultancy Arup
is the technical consultant and Birlesim Engineering
is responsible for installing the duct system.
Tightness class D a requirement
Istanbul’s climate with average temperatures of almost 25°C in the summer, coupled with the buildings’ extensive glass facade, places great demands on the indoor climate system. An energy-efficient heating/cooling system and a duct systems with maximum tightness are important elements of the installation.
"Tightness and quality were decisive parameters in Arup Design’s choice of duct system," says Özcan, continuing: "As Lindab’s circular Lindab Safe duct system is type approved for tightness class D, and we are now progressively strengthening our presence in Turkey, we had every chance of winning the order. And fortunately enough, Lindab was chosen." Deliveries of ducts and components began in April this year and will continue non-stop during winter and spring as the towers reach their full height. In terms of construction, this is a typical duct installation with supply and exhaust air fed via central shafts and distributed to each floor in smaller dimensions.
"This is our first project with Lindab. To date everything has run smoothly and we have established excellent close contact," says Onur Duman of Birlesim Engineering. "We have found Lindab’s team to be highly professional and solution-oriented. In this extensive project where the logistics are demanding, we consider this an important advantage. We’ve also been given good technical support and excellent help in choosing products."
Lindab has established itself as a strong, well-known brand in Turkey, which is another factor behind its success."This gives us extra peace of mind, and since type approved ducts and components in tightness class D were a specification, Lindab felt like an excellent choice," says Onur Duman. "Let me add that the assembly itself is running smoothly, even though our fitters are ‘new’ to Lindab Safe. Without a doubt Lindab has fulfilled our expectations so far!"
Ciftci Towers is owned by Çiftçiler Holding and will be ready for residents to move into during 2016.
