Unique product requirements makes the decision easy
IFU Arena is Uppsala’s new arena for floorball and athletics – a facility where training and competition both have to be possible all year round. Lindab is supplying several different product systems for the arena, all of which have been chosen because Lindab is the only supplier whose products meet the project specifications.
LHP200 and 190 mm gutter for the roof
“This is one of our biggest deliveries of glulam columns, beams and stands,” says Pelle Olsson of Martinsons, which is responsible for delivery of the outer shell, roof and stands for the arena buildings.“Lindab’s wide, perforated LHP200 high profile is the only roof solution to meet the sound requirements set by construction company NCC and the client. It is also the solution we have used for many years. Since Lindab is the only company to offer this, it’s an easy decision to make. Furthermore, we consider Lindab to be an excellent business partner that is easy to work with and gives us a planned, ready-dimensioned, complete roof profile solution.”

The delivery includes LHP200s for over 20,000 square metres of roof area for the two halls. Installation is being carried out by Plåtmontage i Ljusdal, which according to Managing Director Kent Fredholm received “an easy-to-assemble roof with easy-to-handle profiles and smoothly functioning metal-plate screws from Unite”. Upsala Plåtslageri is installing the facility’s rainwater system using Lindab’s 190 mm gutters and pipes.“This is the dimension needed for these large roof areas,” says Mats Kallin, “and since Lindab is the only company to offer 190 mm guttering, once again the decision was easy.”
Ventilation solution with requirements
Fresh Air is responsible for installing the arena’s ventilation and indoor climate systems.“As the total contractor, we have been able to choose which suppliers we want for the project,” says Oliver Jansson, head of purchasing at Fresh Air.“Unsurprisingly, we have chosen Lindab again. Partly because they’re a supplier and partner we enjoy working with, and also because the sports centres themselves place high demands on criteria such as air flow.”
It is essential that the athletes have plenty of fresh air at the right temperature – heated or cooled
“It is essential that the athletes have plenty of fresh air at the right temperature – heated or cooled,” says Niklas Kalander, production manager for Air at Fresh Air.“Lindab’s RCW diffuser with bimetal control is a tried and tested solution in this context. Lindab has also helped our subcontractor ÅF with dimensioning and project planning for the RCW diffusers. Installation of the diffusers in the large floorball arena has now begun; they are located exactly 10.8 metres above the finished floor.”
Lindab’s delivery includes circular ducts, components, air flow regulators and silencers, along with the majority of the rectangular silencers, as well as sheet metal, inner corners and seal profiles etc. for Fresh Air’s own production of the rectangular ducts. In addition to RCW diffusers, there are also DCS diffusers with nozzles and GTI nozzles. Furthermore, there are also diffusers for changing-rooms, offices and other public spaces, for example.Unite screws and Lindab’s suspension and installation materials were used for all fastening.
