The overall scheme, designed by Donovo Design Ltd., includes a diverse mix of quality, affordable, single occupancy flats, family houses, and bungalows. Both short-term and longer-term benefits for the client and residents, and the environment are provided by the design which maximises sustainable features.

There were a few challenges to contend with:

  • Make the homes as sustainable as possible
  • An array of environmental specifications
  • Working within increasingly tight budgets

Director of Denovo Design, Frank Olchowski, specified mild steel galvanised rainwater good, “for their sustainable and low maintenance properties”, and because the product, “provides a durable, low maintenance solution which is resistant to potential vandalism.”

Lindab supplied Rainline steel rainwater system for the project and the dwellings achieved Code for Sustainable Homes, Level 3 and ‘Lifetime Homes’ standards.

“The project ran seamlessly throughout, and finished on time despite minor contingencies. Now that it is complete I am really pleased with the completed development, which co-ordinates well with the architecture of the local neighbourhood, whilst also having its own distinctive character.” Frank Olchowski, Director of Denovo Design
