The 6,000m² retail outlet, comprising 3 floors and a basement, is located in the heart of Luxembourg city. Due to a shortage of building space, the company decided to construct a  building that would employ the latest in architectural and construction techniques. The result not only maximises the use of the space available but also presents a striking reflection of the new “high tech” concept of the group.

The 6,000m² retail outlet, comprising 3 floors and a basement, is located in the heart of Luxembourg city. Due to a shortage of building space, the company decided to construct a building that would employ the latest in architectural and construction techniques.

The result not only maximises the use of the space available but also presents a striking reflection of the new “high tech” concept of the group. 1,300 m² of the ground and first floor levels are dedicated to “Audi” customer service, as well as a show room to present 20 of its new models. The workshop itself, with its 11 employees, is on the second floor just above the sales and office areas. The basement and third floor are devoted to parking for 74 vehicles.

 

Access to the various floors is either by a ramp or an elevator. The architects have combined steel and glass in the facades to create a building that is light and airy. For such a complex building, the Multi-Story system proved to have the best solutions to overcome the various technical challenges;14.2m free spans on five floors with 1,100kg/m² loads was achieved with 7.5m span INODEK beams. The use of pre-stressed concrete slabs together with a reinforced screed kept floor depths to a minimum. Thanks to the INODEK system, the overall height of the building was reduced in order to comply with planning permission.
