Our
Roots are in Sweden
Established in 1959 in Grevie, Sweden, Lindab has grown into the world's
number one producer of round duct systems. As a multinational corporation,
the company has 125 locations in 22 countries and more than 3500 employees.
For many years Lindab was a member of the Stockholm and Copenhagen stock
exchanges when, in 2001, a consortium of private Swedish investors purchased
the company and turned it into a private company. The new Board of Directors
includes the current CEO Lindab AB, Carl-Gustaf Sondén.
Pioneers
of Ductwork
Many of Lindab's innovations have helped to revolutionize the entire sheet
metal industry. For example:
o SPIROsafe® is the first double-lipped gasketed duct system in the
HVAC industry
o Lindab is the first company to guarantee that its duct system will outperform
the tightest standards that ASHRAE and SMACNA address, Leakage Class 3
o Lindab purchased Technikforum, the creator of CADvent® - the only
software on the market that streamlines the entire duct design process
into one integrated and automated solution and is offered free of charge
to its users
Coming
to America
In 1992, Lindab AB decided to expand into North America and opened its
headquarters in Stamford, CT. At the time, the company was entering a
mature market, which predominantly utilized rectangular ductwork. Seeing
the opportunity to provide an innovative yet economical solution to the
HVAC industry, the company began acquiring manufacturing plants and creating
a network of Manufacturer Representatives across the United States and
Canada.
The
first plant opened in 1992 in Portsmouth, VA with six employees. Since
then, that facility has grown dramatically and, along with Lindab's parent
company in Sweden, now houses the world's largest inventory of duct system
components. As word spread about SPIRO's product lines, the company expanded
by opening plants in Memphis, TN; St. Petersburg, FL; Sibley, IL and Skokie,
IL.
Our
Network
When Lindab first opened its doors for business, it started out with just
a handful of local Representatives in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
In nine short years, Lindab has grown this network to more than 60 Representatives
across the U.S. and Canada. The company continues to branch out into new
markets and expects to open offices on the West coast later this year.
We've
Seen the Future - and It's Round
As we speak, Lindab's research centers for air, sound and design software
technologies are hard at work developing quality products that provide
a quieter, safer and cleaner environment that everyone can enjoy. However,
the company recognizes that the industry also needs a duct system that
is efficient and cost-effective. It is this customer-focused philosophy
combined with an environmental responsibility that have been the driving
forces behind the company's worldwide success, and is what motivates Lindab,
its employees and its Representatives to declare that the future has arrived
- and it's round.
