I GENERAL
A.
All drum louvers shown on the plans or in the outlet schedule shall
be Lindab's SPIROcomfort® model DRLA for direct mounting on
spiral duct.
B.
Drum louver shall be mounted to round duct without the use of a
rectangular register tap. Top and bottom flanges shall be adjustable
so they meet flush with the round duct wall regardless of duct diameter.
End caps shall be provided that conform to the varying duct diameter.
II
MATERIALS
A.
Drum and mounting flanges shall be manufactured of 20 gauge galvanized
steel without further surface treatment. Deflection vanes and extractor
blade volume damper shall also be manufactured of 20 gauge galvanized
steel. Welds or other surface discolorations on the drum louver
are unacceptable.
III
CONSTRUCTION
A.
Drum louver shall have individually adjustable deflection vanes.
Vanes shall be spaced to maximize unit's throw while limiting noise
and pressure drop. Vanes shall have steel rivets on both ends to
allow for individual blade adjustment without loosening or rattling.
B. Drum shall rotate a minimum of 30° up and down from centerline
position. Drum pivot shall incorporate a positioning device to maintain
field adjusted drum angles.
C. Mounting flange shall be perforated along its length creating
a hinge to facilitate mounting on various diameters.
IV
DAMPER
A.
Volume damper shall be a single blade extractor type. Multiple dampers
shall be utilized on longer units.
B. Volume damper shall be operable from the face of the register
and shall utilize a screw mechanism to adjust and maintain damper
setting. Volume damper shall withstand force of project duct velocity
requirements.
V
PERFORMANCE
A. Performance of drum louver shall be as per manufacturer's catalogued
data. Manufacturers whose drum louver utilizes a rectangular register
tap to adapt to use with round duct shall submit correction factors
for their catalogued data.
