Sealed to unlock performance

Lindab Safe is a complete circular air duct system developed to reduce uncertainty in ventilation performance. By integrating airtightness into every connection, the system helps ensure that airflow behaves as designed under real installation and operating conditions.

Fifty years of continuous refinement

Lindab Safe was introduced in 1976 to address a fundamental challenge in ventilation systems: achieving reliable airtight connections without relying on site‑applied sealing. By integrating a double‑lipped gasket directly into each connection, airtightness became a product characteristic rather than an installation variable. Since then, the system has been continuously refined through real‑world use across different building types, climates and operating conditions. This is reflected by Lindab Safe’s certification to Eurovent airtightness Class D, the highest classification.

Recent developments focus on optimising material use without compromising performance. This includes lighter duct designs that support easier handling and reduced material impact, as well as options manufactured with increased recycled content for projects with specific sustainability requirements.

Making sure the air reaches its destination

Ventilation systems are designed on the assumption that airflow reaches its intended destination without interruption. In practice, this assumption is often challenged by leakage along the duct system. Leakage affects more than energy use. It alters pressure conditions, increases pressure losses and makes balancing less precise. Areas closer to the air handling unit may receive more air than intended, while more distant zones receive less, even when the system is correctly dimensioned.

By integrating a double-lipped gasket at every joint, Lindab Safe reduces leakage to a level where airflow behaviour remains predictable, rather than being affected by losses in the duct system. This supports stable pressure conditions, more accurate balancing and consistent air distribution throughout the building. In operation, reduced leakage improves controllability and reduces the need for corrective measures during commissioning, helping align design intent with actual performance.

Installed tight to ventilate right

Airtightness achieved through site‑applied sealing depends heavily on installation conditions and workmanship, often leading to inconsistent performance. As a result, systems designed to be airtight may underperform in practice. Lindab Safe eliminates this dependency by integrating a double-lipped gasket into each connection. Airtight joints are created during assembly, making performance less sensitive to site conditions and allowing immediate testing after installation.

This approach is independently verified through Eurovent Certified Performance, confirming the highest airtightness class (D) at system level rather than for individual components. Designed for durability, the system maintains airtightness under pressure changes, temperature variations and mechanical stress, helping preserve performance and reduce the risk of degradation over time.

True ease of installation

Installation of ventilation systems takes place under changing conditions: limited space, overlapping trades, schedule pressure and late design adjustments. When components fit predictably and seal immediately, fewer decisions are left to the installer at each joint. In large-scale and industrial installations, these principles become even more critical. Larger diameters, higher weights and longer runs increase the consequences of small deviations.

Lindab Safe is designed to remain robust at scale, with connection solutions and gasket designs developed to maintain alignment and airtightness in demanding installations. Systems that seal during assembly are easier to test, adjust and verify, reducing late stage troubleshooting and the likelihood of callbacks after handover. Where required, on-site production of ducts further supports accurate fit and efficient installation in complex projects.

Securing performance in real projects

Ventilation systems perform as well as their weakest connections. By integrating airtightness into every connection and applying a consistent system logic across components, Lindab Safe reduces installation‑related variation and helps ensure that airflow behaves as designed in real projects.

The result is predictable system behaviour, easier commissioning and performance that remains stable over time — supported by real‑world use, independent verification and continuous refinement.
