Lindab Innovation Hub and Best Western Hotel Duxiana in Helsingborg have started to collaborate on a joint project. Together, they will analyse the indoor climate of the hotel, and at the same time, raise awareness of its importance. "Room climate is extremely important, and we hope to get this across to people," says Johan Knutsson, owner of Hotel Duxiana.

Ever since Hotel Duxiana first opened in 2004, the indoor climate has been one of the key priorities of the hotel. According to Knutsson, there are many factors playing a part in a good night's sleep, and having the right room temperature is just as important as a comfortable bed, or proper room darkening.

"A lot of hotels put their focus on displaying their latest gadgets or interior. But a cool bar or a fast Wi-Fi aren't the only things that are important. Just take a look at any hotel website today - nobody talks about room climate," says Knutsson.

Sharing the mindset with Hotel Duxiana, Lindab’s primary focus is to raise awareness of indoor climate and increasing the interest for it. With a mutual engagement in the matter, the two companies plan to further improve the indoor climate of the hotel.

By installing a sensor in every hotel room, a number of different values will be measured. The guests’ views on the room climate will also be evaluated. Nicklas Friberg, Head of Lindab Innovation Hub, wants to engage the hotel guests more in the importance of indoor climate in the future.

"At the moment, you are able to increase or decrease the temperature but not much more. We look forward to being able to control other parameters as well, and also customising things more than we are able to at the moment," says Friberg.

"But, as things stand, the project, which will run throughout the spring and summer, aims to improve the hotel's indoor climate and raise awareness of the subject. It's all about increasing the understanding of how indoor climate works and explaining why it's important. We hope to inspire our guests to be more interested in the matter and to measure to what extent we've raised awareness," says Friberg.

When the project is completed this summer, Lindab’ and Hotel Duxianas’ ambition is that the indoor climate of the hotel will be the best in the country.

"I hope we'll be able to say that our indoor climate is better than other hotels, and that we'll get people to stay with us for that reason alone," concludes Knutsson.
